Close collaboration with the toolmaker for an optimal result
Beologic, a specialist in sustainable and innovative thermoplastics, approached Artori to develop a food container for the catering and takeaway market. In a sector dominated by disposable packaging, Beologic placed a sustainable solution at the heart of the brief.
The container not only had to be affordable and easy to carry, but also stackable, reusable, dishwasher-safe and microwave-safe.
Product Development Director Steven Van den Bremt offers a behind-the-scenes look and explains why this project is among his personal favourites.

Technical challenges: my greatest source of inspiration and motivation
In this project, the focus was on the challenge of designing a leak-proof food container without the use of rubber or silicone seals, with the aim of simplifying both production and recycling. These kinds of technical challenges are a major source of inspiration and motivation for me.
To achieve the desired result, we worked in close collaboration with both the toolmaker and Beologic.
The moment a product comes out of the mould and all components fit together perfectly is always exciting. In this case, I was particularly proud that our technical solution resulted in a completely leak-proof container.

“A close collaboration with the toolmaker was essential, given the technical complexity of the tooling. We knew in advance that multiple iterations would be needed to align all components perfectly. This project also offered valuable learning experiences in the field of toolmaking.”
The final container is produced using high-pressure injection moulding. Throughout the development process, 3D prints were used to thoroughly test every aspect of the design.
As with every project, this one also contributed to professional growth. In this case, the knowledge transfer from the toolmaker (HB by Vaskon) proved particularly valuable.
One of the key learnings involved the differences in shrinkage and tolerances between the materials used for the lid and the container. In situations like these, even greater attention must be paid to the steel-safe design of the mould.
